CONVERSE X SLAM JAM X CALI THORNHILL DEWITT
‘‘YOUR SILENCE GETS YOU NOTHING’’.
Italian streetwear powerhouse Slam Jamand visual artist Cali Thornhill Dewitt interpret Urban Utility to celebrate the importance of freedom of creative expression through a thoughtful provocation from Dewitt –“Your Silence Gets You Nothing.” For a generation that rallies around community and freedom of expression, functionality means nothing if it’s creatively limiting. The visual art, in Dewitt’s notorious all-caps punk style and translated to English, Farsi, Italian, Korean, French, Russian and Hebrew, is placed in stark contrast against the Urban Utility aesthetic to deliver a powerful message. The capsule collection is built with cross-seasonalityin mind, featuring layering options from short sleeve Converse Essentials jersey tees, long sleeve thermals and hoodies, to the pinnacle Men’s GORE-TEX® Utility Jacket. The hero Utility Jacket, is made from 3-layer nylon waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX® fabric with fully sealed seams to ensure protection and encourage exploration. Intentional development of storm pockets on the exteriors and waterproof YKK Aquaguard® zippers reflect the adaptability of its wearer, and offer an apparel experience centered around discovery. The collection delivers Chuck ’70, the modern ode to the original Chuck Taylor All Star, reconstructed as a GORE-TEX® waterproof hiker. Inspired by Yosemite-style hiking shoes from the 1970s, the Chuck ’70 Hiker features utilitarian patchwork of different materials, including reflective nylons, foams and canvas that come together holistically, while making each panel unique.
