ÓLAFUR ARNALDS X WRONG WEATHER

re:member Capsule Collection

Music shapes Wrong Weather. It is a symbiotic relationship that makes us want to create more and give back. The Wrong Weather store is celebrating 10 years in business with ÓA X WW, a collaboration with renowned Icelandic musician Ólafur Arnalds. The release of the collection is a recollection of history as well as a recognition and appreciation of Ólafur’s continuous growth over the past decade on the forefront of art and modern classical music.

In 2009 the recently formed Kiasmos, an experimental techno duo composed of Ólafur and Janus Rasmussen, provided an immersive and forward-looking performance on the store’s inauguration event. It was a perfect representation of a the modern and driven attitude that, until this day, shapes Wrong Weather’s core. Today, the BAFTA award-winning multi-instrumentalist and producer, Ólafur Arnalds is the exemplary personification in music of what Wrong Weather advocates for in fashion design and art.

For the ÓA X WW collection the artwork of Ólafur’s 2018 re:member album is reinterpreted in exclusive prints on a collection of two white crew neck t-shirts and a black long sleeve sweatshirt. The ethereal print, designed by Torsten Posselt of FELD studios, was made using the semi-generative artwork generator custom built for the re:member project. It was inspired by the groundbreaking STRATUS software, designed by Ólafur and programmer Halldór Eldjárn, that controls two player pianos that feature heavily on re:member and are an integral part of Ólafur’s live shows.

The artwork forms a continuous brush that covers the upper chest in the re:member Black Sweatshirt and in an all-over print on the white re:member White T-Shirt. Both pieces have the re:member album lettering on the lower back. On the Ekki Hugsa White T-Shirt the geometric white print over white cotton reinforces the white space concept with Ólafur’s own handwriting of ‘Ekki hugsa’ (‘Don’t think’). All the pieces have the ÓA X WW logo embroidered on the upper left back shoulder.

The ÓA X WW collection will be available exclusively at Wrong Weather Store and Ólafur Arnalds 2019 tour after January 25th.

Wrong Weather is a decade old.

In the year we're turning 10 years old, we're looking to the future and reminiscing the past, bringing along our friends.

We have had the same mission since day one, to provide an immersive experience to all those that visit us, both online and in-store. We do that by carrying fundamental designer fashion brands we love such as Maison Margiela, Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Stephan Schneider or Kenzo, and by supporting young independent designers that have grown before our eyes like Off-White, Cottweiler, J.W.Anderson, A-Cold-Wall and Yeezy to name a few.

We like to think of ourselves as more than a fashion design store. Wrong Weather wants to conduct a lifestyle where the arts and culture appreciation is fundamental. That’s why The Wrong Weather Gallery, our exhibition space, has held performances, installations, exhibitions, short film screenings, live painting etc. from local to international celebrated artists. It’s been an honor to host them all.

Located in Porto we have seen and motivated the rise of the city to an even more international and multidimensional society where menswear fashion lovers and difference aficionados can find their community. The relatively young Wrong Weather Life, created in 2017 right next to our flagship store, has been at the forefront of many exclusive releases and collaborations becoming a physical extension of fashion’s younger culture.

We are proud to say that in these 10 years we feel we have fulfilled our mission. We have grown and mutated with evolutions, trends, innovations and updates - after all, that is fashion business - and every time you change you learn.

This is not about nostalgia, is about 10 years of evolution. Let’s celebrate and share!
