Having established himself as one of the most striking and provocative designers of the last decade, it's still impressive how Rick Owens manages to keep on shaking the fashion industry's foundations, season after season. While his "Lord of Darkness" moniker is still the main trait which many recognize him by, the truth is Rick Owens has evolved into much more than a niche label with a dark fashion-sportswear aesthetic.
For more than 20 years now, the designer has been able to stay true to his vision, continuously innovating and drawing us into his immersive universe where architecture and design play a paramount role.

This approach has allowed Owen to transcend his immediate audience, earning him recognition across several industries and establishing his label as the aspirational go-to for younger generations. The numerous collaborations with Adidas, Veja, Champion, and more recently, Moncler, are but the materialization of this allure. For SS21, the designer presented Phlegethon, a collection named after the river of flames depicted in Dante's Inferno, whose presentation was heavily influenced by the current COVID-19 panorama.

Shot during a trip to Italy following the first confinement, the video shows a more intimate approach from Owens, personally overseeing the styling of his muse, Tyrone Dylan Susman. It's a massive change from his usual all-in performative runway presentations, often imbued with strong messaging, but one that he felt "was the most genuine expression that I could come up with." The current global pandemic also influenced Owens's vision for the collection, as his role as a purveyor of "excellence" became clear in his mind. For SS21, he looked into his archives and merged that insight with research on Larry LeGaspi, to create more refined versions of originals that feel fresh.

The first drops from Rick Owens Phlegethon collection will soon be arriving at Wrong Weather. Meanwhile feel free to shop the designer's best deals on sale on the link below:
