Here at Wrong Weather, we continue our search to bring you the best brands and designers, even amidst a global pandemic. While we'll be adding a few more brands to our portfolio this year, today we are focusing on one we are very excited about: Casablanca.
Embodying the cultural heritage and influences of Charaf Tajer, its French-Moroccan founder Casablanca delivers a fresh, colorful take on menswear that has captured the heart of fashion enthusiasts across the globe. The brand's Rolland Garros meets North African aesthetic, results in distinctive mixes of white and bold, colorful graphics, presented across garments that brilliantly mix sportswear and tailoring influences. Casablanca’s aesthetic is a fusion between lux and leisurewear, a perfect balance of comfort and elegance.
For SS21, Maui played a crucial role in the collection development, as Charaf spent part of his confinement in the paradisiac island:
"This collection is based on a moment of life and how strong nature is. What's happened is pushing us even more into our lane as idealists and nature lovers. We want people to come together and create a positive dynamic."
Besides the Hawaiian cultural heritage, the designer drew inspiration from local architecture and other graphic elements to reenvision menswear staples in a contemporary fashion. Tennis references are mixed with military and tailoring to convey a Summer-ready attire that is both relaxed and sophisticated. Colorful graphic motifs grace most garments, portraying a fun, spirit-lifting collection that seems like the perfect recipe for the strange times we're living in.
