Feng Chen Wang is back to the runways after a period of seclusion in China during the height of the pandemic. The London-based designer presented a collection focused on the imaginary world that haunted the artist in her sleep. Dragons, monkeys and hybrid phoenixes were the canvas for the collection.
Shown in Shanghai on a watery runway edged in fire—two mutually exclusive elements in Chinese Tradition —the collection included her first formal “womenswear” pieces. Exploring a future-modernistic aesthetic, Feng continued to explore garment technical deconstruction and functionality.
Beyond this, both gender elements merged and mingled through her distinct and creatively irreverent approach to tailoring and sportswear. Phoenix-print sheer dresses and cycling pants, some cool-looking asymmetric skirting, a metal bra, knitwear with forest motifs, can be found in this collection.
