K L N T
PONTO x KLAR
October 24th - November 7th
Opening: October 24th - 3 - 7 pm
K L N T brings together the fashion designers K L A R and the design duo PONTO in a mini-collection of post-apocalyptic multifunctional apparel.
The collection composed of three distinctive garments is based on the specter of extinction that looms over humankind today. In an effort to understand the connection between human existence and its metaphysical relation with the planet, the collection was developed under an abstract context in-between existence and extinction.
Nowadays, environmental degradation, atomic weapons, global warming and natural catastrophes are some of the ever expanding possible causes for humankind’s extinction, yet this collection is a means of reflection on the discourse of existence rather than annihilation. The collection situates itself in a scenic limbo between a post-apocalyptic future and mankind's extinction, forwarding communication as a means of escape or salvation. Within this context the garments, in addition to protect from against the elements, are used as a non-verbal communication platform—their role is to communicate the wearer’s intentions as a last-resort to survival.
The collection will be launched Saturday, 24th of October at The Gallery Wrong Weather in Porto, Portugal, with a site-specific installation showcasing the garments.
