YOU TOUCH ME WHEN I'M TOO DISGUSTED TO TOUCH MYSELF
Live Performance World Premiere by Patrick Church
May 9th 2015
Following Patrick Church’s debut exhibiton at Wrong Weather in 2013, we’re excited to annouce the artist will be back to the city on May 9th to show his most recent performance 'YOU TOUCH ME WHEN I'M TOO DISGUSTED TO TOUCH MYSELF' live for the first time ever at the Wrong Weather Gallery. The performance will also be live streaming from 16h30 on the Periscope app.
In the words of the artist, “in this performance I am exploring the ideas of my own self worth.. How I see myself, how I feel, how it feels to touch me, How it feels to touch someone else. I feel it's time for a rebirth, to leave something behind and look forward to something new, an exorcism of the past, releasing my demons and looking towards the future. ”
Patrick Church was born in Oxford in 1991, and moved to London when he was 18. Described in 2012 by Room Gallery as “London’s provocative new artist”, he works primarily as a painter; creating canvases, murals, and more recently wearable art with his distinctive painted leather jackets. Using color and text, and intervening directly on the leather, Patrick Church produces daring, intimate pieces that reveal a unique artistic sensibility. As an artist, he tries and solves problems, creating solutions, and producing something that is an extension of his self, revealing his humiliations, failures and successes in pieces that are simultaneously dark, honest and sexually provocative.
